Sunday the 21st
October was our first meet of the season as a squad. It was an early start for
most of the squad with two of our younger coming down just for the second
session.
There were 37 swims on the day with some very crowded heats that kept the coach
on his toes (thanks to Terry O’Reilly for taking the splits).
Everyone swam exceptionally well for their first real racing of the season,
considering its only October there were lots of Personnel Bests, 18 at last
count which for only 8 weeks of training is very good and if swimmers weren’t
quite making their PB’s they were very close to them.
The club won 6 gold, 4 silver, 1 bronze with 5 other top six finishes.
Considering we had a very small entry in comparison to others clubs these
results are a credit to the hard work the swimmers are putting into their
training, so keep up the hard work.
All the swimmers supported everyone else during the meet, with some very loud
cheering, especially at the start of Morgan’s 100B/C not sure why maybe the
girls can explain that one!! Swim of the day has to go to Charlotte Aston for
knocking 21 seconds off her 200Br/S PB.
However swimmer of the meet and swimming for the club for the first time,
cheering exceptionally loudly with two swims and two PB’s, swimmer of the meet
for the age group superstars meet 1 is……………. Emma Hartness.
Finally keep up the good work in training and keep your eye on the web site for
up dates.
