Senior Squad Monthly Report

Back to Senior Squad Page

September and October

Ok so I am finally organised enough to put together a squad report for us. The idea is that every month or so I will put together a few thoughts for you on how we have trained or competed over the previous weeks.

I am also thinking that I may put forward a swimmer of the month award – and for getting this most prestigious of awards you get your picture on the website. I know I know we are far too generous J

In September if you swam every meter that we as a squad had then you would have done 156,000 (no-one did that) the average for the group was 106553. The most distance covered was by Alison who swam 154886..

In October so far we have had a possible 119200 (up to 21st October) and the person who has covered the most has been Sasha 102295 and the average is 73995

This means that out of a possible 271700m so far this season on average we have covered 180548m. This means that just in terms of training volume, in the 7 weeks since the start of September, on average we have missed 91152m. That’s over 2 weeks of training in the last 7 weeks missed.

The average attendance out of a squad of 22 is 15 (this is something that really needs to better).

Now there are people in the squad who are at virtually every session and who swim almost every meter written but there are people who miss a lot.

Anyway, enough of the facts and figures, I would like to congratulate every one of you for your attitude to training (when you are thereJ) and your application to the work that is set for you. I can not honestly remember there having been a better team ethos in this club and, in particular, this squad at any point over the last 5 years. It is a pleasure to be working on poolside.

Our target meet for this cycle is the Ulster Championships and I can sense it is going to be a big meet for a few people and I have a feeling it could be the best Ulsters we have had for a few years. Keep up the good work (with more of you making more sessions) and this year will be great.

I almost forgot. This months swimmer of the month is a joint award. For their attitude and work over the last 7 weeks as well as competing well in the 2 meets so far I am giving this most prestigious accolade to
