PTL Vs Newry &
Mourne
Saturday 19th Jan. was
our penultimate PTL of the season, against Newry & Mourne.
This season it was Newry & Mourne's turn to travel to Grove. The Gala had
a timeslot between the earlier Stroke Development 2 Gala and another PTL
(Leander Vs Templemore), so it needed to run like clockwork. Michael, as Race
Referee and Dawn and Maura "manning" the desk, along with Steve "Mr Mic" Aston,
ensured things ran smoothly.
A sporting Gala ended with a comfortable victory for COB, however there
were some very close finishes that kept finish Judge Steve Bell on his toes!
There was a great atmosphere at the Gala, with both sides getting behind their
teams.
Too many fantastic swims to mention individual
swimmers, but worth mentioning that our senior Girls appear to be faster than
our senior boys!
Thanks to Peter, Lindsay & Dave for devoting more free time (two Galas in
one day!) to the "business end" of the Club and to Terry for doing the behind
the scenes organisation of the meet. Thanks are also due to Jenny, Heather &
Lynda for organising the post-gala buns & sandwiches.
