Teletots Vs Ards - Change of Venue - Avoniel 6PM
PTL Vs Enniskillen, 26th January 2008
The final PTL of the season saw COB compete
against Enniskillen Lakelanders.
The venue for the event was Andersonstown.
Both teams delivered some quality swims, with the relays, as usual, being
the most exciting. The Junior Club produced a new chant "Let's go Belfast..."
that was heard throughout the gala (in the Leisure Centre and possibly beyond!).
Definitely the loudest gala of the season so far!
COB just had the edge throughout, finally pulling away in the final relay.
The great team spirit that we have was on display at this gala - our Juniors in
particular were on fine form, with a number of PB swims to their credit - keep
training hard Juniors!
As per normal, the Gala was conducted with great integrity by Race Referee
Michael McCausland, with Gabe McClean doing a great job as starter. Head Coach
Peter Hill's "time saving" laptop didn't get in the way (too much!) at the desk
- seasoned "desk" jockey and Chairperson Maura ensuring that the points tally
went smoothly, ignoring mild desk "panics" when Colleen was in the water!.
Simon stuck to his well prepared (!) announcer script and Terry clearly
enjoyed his role as Director of Timekeepers as one or two stopwatches decided it
time for their batteries to run out. Mr Steve "Eagle eye" Bell made the finish
calls. Special vote of thanks to our willing band of timekeepers and our Ladies
for getting the Teas sorted.
Final thanks go to the swimmers of both teams for
delivering an outstanding afternoon's swimming.
