News David's Monthly Report 5/2/2010 SWIMMER OF THE MONTH JANUARY In January we held our first Teletots meet of the season and a further time trial for the academy squad. We also competed in the third of five Ulster graded galas meets; A busy time for swimmers with February coming up and looking like being our busiest month for competition. The results from all three competitions this month have been outstanding with loads of personal bests being set. Every time we have competed this month over 90% of the swims have been PB’s. Swimmers have started gaining qualifying times for meets at graded level, age group championship level and Irish age group championship level, and even setting new club records. Swimmers commitment and attendance continues to improve and they are now receiving the rewards for that commitment to training with the results they are achieving. With attitude in training being great everyone is working hard and working for each other the team spirit has been high. It was really encouraging to see the way the swimmers handled themselves at our first Teletots meet against Larne. As always swimmer of the month is a tough decision but this month has been hard with three or four really deserving the award. However a swimmer has reached a level of competition that last season I thought would be beyond them until next season. This swimmer is a testament to the training program and really shows that with consistent hard training put in week after week then the sky really is the limit. With only 2 months of training this year under her belt this swimmer has achieved a qualifying time for the Irish Age Group Championships Division 2 held at the end of June in Limerick. She has also PB’d in every swim she has swum this month and her fitness, strength and technique continue to improve on a weekly basis. Swimmer of the month for January is ………………………………… Ellen O’Neill, Ellen receives the swimmer of the month trophy and a £10 voucher for David Gotto sports.
