Teletots v Lurgan Report and February Swimmer of the Month
15/3/2010
Teletots perform heroics despite loss to Lurgan
Our second Teletots of the season took place this past Friday night 5th March 2010. Twenty-five of our Junior and Academy squad swimmers turned out to take on the best team in Division 2, Lurgan ASC. Very quickly Lurgan showed their pedigree taking 3 of the first 4 relays. Our group B (2000’s) won their Medley relay with a fine swim from Myles Colgan to bring home the win. Myles was one of three boys who swam up an age group throughout the gala, the others were Fred Pepper and Tony Cowan.
The Individual events started as usual with the Backstroke. This is always a strong event for COB and this meet proved no different, bringing our best point’s tally of the evening. We had some swimmers competing in their first Teletots meet and indeed their first ever swimming competition on Friday and all performed fantastically well. New swimmers included, Lauren McCombe who has only been with us for 3 weeks, Fred Pepper who joined 5 weeks ago, Bree Moffet who joined in the New Year and Donal Shearer.
The gala ran very quickly and smoothly once Lurgan arrived their coach being delayed. After the Backstroke events, Breaststroke, Butterfly and Freestyle followed as per the normal format finally ending up with the freestyle relays. The swimmers all did outstanding swims, the team ended up with 52 personal best times and 17 new times from a total of 88 individual swims. This was a brilliant set of results. 78% of swims were better than previous performances and when you consider that we only had a Teletots v Larne 4 weeks ago this is superb improvement in such a short space of time.
Well done to all the swimmers who performed so well you, should all be very proud of yourselves. Thank you to all the parents, volunteers and helpers who lent a hand on the night and made for a very smoothly run gala. I hope to see you all next week in Newry for our next Teletots meet v Newry and Mourne. Information in on the notice board.

Swimmer of the month February
This past month was busy in the swimming calendar with Teletot meets and graded galas. Training continued as usual with little disruption over the half-term period. As always there are swimmers whose dedication to the sport shows slightly more than others, training regularly, working hard and being attentive in training and then putting all that good work into practice in the competition pool.
In February and in previous months one swimmer has showed an increased commitment to his swimming coming to almost every session available to him since the New Year began. This dedication has paid off handsomely with a number of new personal best times in the recent teletots meets and time trials.
Swimmer of the month for February is ……………………………………………………………………… Sam Harman.
