Alison Todd, Seana Harley-Moyes and Emily Heyburn all qualified for the final Irish gala of this season. There is a strong field for this gala with swimmers from South Africa, Egypt, Scotland and France all competing. On Day One, Seana narrowly missed out on the 200m freestyle final in a time of 2.19. However, Alison broke a club record in the 50m breaststroke, swimming 34.26 and finishing second. Emily Heyburn finished third in the 200m freestyle final. A good start to the long weekend. On Day Two, Seana swam a new pb in the 100m freestyle with a time of 1.05 mins; Emily qualified for the semis of the 50m fly and Alison qualified for the finals of the 100m breaststroke and the 400m IM. In the evening session, Emily narrowly missed out on qualifying for her final, whilst Alison took silver in both her events. This is a really encouraging start to the gala and the spirits are high in the camp. GO COB
By Sunday evening the girls had finished with one gold (Alison Todd in the 200m breaststroke final), four silver and one bronze. This is a fantastic achievement considering the strength of the field. Well done to Alison, Emily and Seana and we wish Emily all the best for her swim in August at the British Nationals in August. |
